Los Angeles —
A new survey finds the overwhelming majority of Americans are annoyed by Christmas car commercials. When asked how they feel about the ads showing a well-off spouse surprising the other with an expensive car on Christmas, ninety-seven percent of participants responded with a vomit emoji.
“Who does that?” said one respondent who wished to remain anonymous. “I can’t buy a shirt on my own without my wife complaining about it for weeks, and these jackasses are just picking out cars as a surprise?” “You’re telling me bro picked out a car, paid for it and got it to the house without her knowing anything about it?” offered another.
While both men and women overwhelmingly dislike the commercials, women tended to dislike them for different reasons. For example, many women agreed with men that the premise is preposterous but thirty-three percent of women stated their negativity came from knowing their husband wouldn’t surprise them with a car and another twenty-six percent assume he’s secretly buying one for, “that woman.”
